questionaires: a questionaires effectiveness varies depending on the structure of the question it is important to not soley rely on closed questions where the person filling it out only needs to select one of multiple preprepared answers usually giving the options of yes or no, closed questions limit the variety of the answers and in some ways can bring in bias if the avalible answers are one that only align with certain viewpoints. alternitivly open questions also include thier own set of issues as allowing the answers to be to open ended the it leaves a possibility of gaining no usefull information from the results. in order to make a successfull questionarie it's required to include a variety of both open and closed questions, the closed questions should also vary from being yes/no base or other choice based. in order to make sure the information is useful and to ensure your answers come fromt the right demographic you should also include optional questions that are only to be answerd depending on responses to previous questions for example if your video is aimed at a rock genre then answers regarding the videos format will only be useful if they are from fans of said genre otherwise fans of other genres could influence your results and your video could end up with codes and conventions of another genres demographic. focus groups: focus groups are different from questionaires as they allow for even more open imput that wouldn't be possible from predetermined questions. a focus group can offer more detailed opinions and can be used for assessing a early version of a video. foucus groups also benefit from the fact they are a group so by allowing group discussuion it allows more detailed feedback than a questionaire could and it would allow participents to share thoughts and ideas and develop them more before feeding them back. a focus group comes later in the development cstage and should be made up of the target demographic.
